1) Turn the glasses around backward in the lensmeter.
2) Measure the sphere value of the front vertex distance power at a point above the optical center.
3) Measure the sphere value of the front vertex near power. This point should be as far below the optical center as the distance verification point is above the optical center.
4) The difference between the two values is the add power.
